Happy Friday the 13th, everyone. I have a couple of quick items, that I think those following the SLB market might find interesting.
* Another SLB vendor has hit my radar, a company called A10 Networks. They have a Layer 4-7 load balancer from the looks of it, but I’m not sure of what their price point is.
* Also, I’ve completed my Buyer’s Guide, and it looks like it’s going to get published in a major online publication. I’ll of course post links when that is complete.
* An, an SLB Wiki is nearing completion. That should be a good resource for users out there.

A10 is actually a next-generation application (L7) availability manager – what I mean is yes, it is an SLB but more than that. It provides for non-blocking (L7) payloads ie; voice, video, data, you name it. The processors scale so as your application needs get turned up and new ones come into play, this puppy can handle it all! (it is not a band aid SLB like some of the lower end systems)
It is aggressively priced as it does not have the $$ overhead as the F5, Cisco and Juniper with all of their functionality but it is not a “cheap” just only SLB like some of the low end systems out there.
My 2 sense – PT
